Reed Insurance London are recruiting for a really exciting, progressive opportunity seeking a high-calibre Underwriter or Senior Underwriter for a strategic succession hire at a growing, entrepreneurially driven MGA. This role offers a clear pathway to progress into an Underwriting Manager role within 2–3 years, with direct mentorship from the current Underwriting Manager.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Underwrite casualty/liability risks focusing on profitable growth.
• Act as a technical referral point and provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced underwriters.
• Contribute to portfolio performance management, including analysis of loss ratios and risk mix.
• Undertake technical audits and peer reviews to ensure underwriting quality and consistency.
• Support the business in claims-related underwriting decisions and feedback loops.
• Work closely with senior management to support the ongoing development of underwriting strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years’ underwriting experience, with at least 3 recent years within an MGA environment.
• Strong background in casualty/liability underwriting, with construction experience highly desirable.
• Demonstrable experience operating at a senior technical level, including acting as a referral point, coaching/mentoring colleagues, understanding and influencing portfolio performance, and conducting audits or peer reviews.
• Dip CII qualified, or near completion (e.g., one module remaining).
• Evidence of people management experience or clear leadership potential.
• Strong commercial judgement combined with technical underwriting discipline.
